I did not have any MME 6x6 paper pads, and couldn't take the thought of cutting into my MME Stash, but as luck would have it...the very day that Amber Packer posted this on the MME blog, Lynne from Scrappin Ladies sent my hubby home with Basic Grey's Kissing Booth Papers.

Christmas Jar and Bow

Maxenzi needed a quick gift for a friend, so we decorated this jar. It turned out so cute! I used an older line from Fancy Pants..Holly Jolly, I think. I cut two borders with the scallop die from sizzix, and used scor-tape to adhere them, top and bottom to the jar. Cut a tag from the paper, added some chipboard and twine.

I remembered this great tutorial I saw on October Afternoon's Blog, a couple of week's back, on how to make your own paper bows. Super fun!

Haven't posted in a while, just super busy with the holidays...which I am sure is true for you too!

We took the time yesterday to go to the Capitol to see the trees. The most beautiful December day, it was just gorgeous!

Sledding Hill...Really?!?!

I wanted to share this with all of you back home in the Hills....this is what flatlanders call a sledding hill.

It is complete with rules!

Pretty sure that what I have sent my children down, back in Black Hills, would be classified as child abuse or attempted homicide.We took four wheelers, to get back up the hills we used to sled down. Baird Park cracks me up...this is nothing more than a pile of dirt. Keep in mind this is the biggest hill in the Aberdeen area for miles, other than the land fill!

Alex looks so happy! Totally impressed!

And here we have a bit of goofing around, yes there is no snow, I wanted you to see it before there was any snow, so you could see just how small it is. Maybe it will grow by extreme measures once all the snow comes. But seriously this can't be really considered a sledding hill!

Another Christmas Project to share!

Just another easy project to share...

a paper stacked Christmas tree!

I had so much fun making some trees like this last year, that I decided I would make one again this year, with some very special paper.

I adore last year's line from the Girl's Paperie,

Tinsel and Twig.

I didn't have a lot left so I wanted to make it special, the tree was the perfect project.

You can use any type of scallop nesting dies or cut various sizes with your die cutting machine.

I used about 45 scallop circles for this tree, all depends on the the weight of paper. Last year, I used old patterns and vintage sheet music. Those take tons of layers, but this awesome paper filled it up nice and easy.

Just crumple a bit, poke a hole and layer onto a bbg skewer.

Mine is spritzed with Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist and sprinkled with glitter and micro beads. I used an old wooden spool for my base, just hot glued it in, added the snowflake and ribbon. Done in no time..less than an hour!

Also sharing this morning's sunrise....crisp, cold and gorgeous!

Sharing an easy project!

Super easy project that Maxenzi and I made..actually we made 3 of these shadow box frames in under an hour.

All you need is some scrapbook paper, a shadow box (Lori got mine at Michael's for me, they hold a 5x7 piece of paper), jingle bells (these have about 60 7/8 inch bells),

The Jingle All the Way is a vinyl piece from Stampin' Up, 114707, it is 3 x3-5/8...also comes larger 6x7-1/4. Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler striped grosgrain ribbon, 125056!

Getting Started on Christmas Cards..

If I start now, I might have a few done in time for Christmas. Christmas cards are not my strong suit...but I am trying. Some people, I won't name names, already have all of their Christmas Cards done...are you kidding me?!

These are sweet and simple!

I adore the new Doodle Pops from Doodlebug...they are cardstock stickers that are popped up and are available in over 60 styles. Mr. Penguin is adorable and looks as sweet as can be combined with the embossing folder "Sending Christmas Love" from Sizzix!

Maxenzi and I spent part of the day making these "Boo" Jars for some of Maxenzi's friends and our neighbors!

My first experience with using Cricut Vinyl...always been a bit scared of it. A little tricky, but not too bad! We made 10 of these little jars from Ikea. The "BOO" poem is from Heather's Skipping Stones Halloween Set. Super cute! We did a couple bigger jars, too!

Shopping, cookie baking and jar making! And a little bit of card making...it's been quite a fun!

Just wanted to share a fun little mini book that I made for Cara's Birthday!

I used Starbucks Coffee sleeves...4 of them..stitched the bottoms shut, decorated each one a bit, not much because they already come with such cool designs. Punched holes in each one to add the binding rings and then added my tags.

Just finishing up a layout I started last weekend at Lynne's Scrappin Ladies Retreat in Ft. Pierre, last weekend! I had a blast, first time that I have not been a vendor at one of these retreats..so very different for me. Lynne was the only vendor...so I helped with make n takes and such.

I kind of have to have everything around me at home to create..so this was a bit of struggle and needed finishing touches when I got home.

Using my stash up a bit..not a lot but little by little..because new is always more fun.

This layout features Fancy Pants All Fall from 3 years back..love it, hoarded it and it work perfect for this page featuring Leah's litte guy! Totally inspired by the fabulous Paige Evans layout here:

Create Halloween Invite Blog Challenge

Yep, you guessed it...playing along again for the Create Blog Challenge.

This time the challenge was to create a Halloween Invite. That's right up my alley cause you know how much I love

Halloween!

I used a Maya Road Kraft envelope, some Martha Stewart punches, Pink Paislee's Twilight Collection that I have been hoarding for a couple of years. A little bit of Haunted Shadows Glimmer Mist, a tad of machine stitching, twine and some black crepe ribbon. Oh yeah, and the little adorable spiders from Sandylion! It needed a bit of cute!

Just another morning in Aberdeen...a silly pheasant wandering through the yard. You think he might take a hint from the weathervane that hunting dogs live here. Not the safest property to stroll through. He stayed in the shadows of the trees, so I had to really hike up the resolution and saturation on the camera for you could see him. So not the greatest picture, but okay for me and three hunting dogs standing and the window taking his picture.

Next up, "Do you see what I see?" was the question of the morning from the dogs. This little guy is what they found in the cone flower plant this morning.

He was seriously not impressed when I picked him and set him out on the patio to take his picture. I quick took his picture and set him back in his plant to go about his morning!

Take Time to Smell the Flowers

This little guy doesn't seem to need to be reminded to stop and take a moment to enjoy the beauty around you!

He is seems to be taking it all in!

I am either extremely lonely or beginning to see the beauty in all of God's creatures.

At first, I was a bit taken back by the toads, frogs and salamanders. Now I look forward to seeing them, watching them. We have become accustomed to one and another. They neither startle me or I them.

A beautiful sunny morning, time to enjoy fall and the flowers that will soon be gone. He seems to have that all in check..soon, I'm sure he and all of the other the little critters will disappear for the long winter.

I will miss them!

But then again, who says I'm going outside this winter...lol!

A Little Vintage 1997

Yep, a little vintage 1997...Max's first Halloween.
I used some brand new Jenni Bowlin Holiday 2011 paper called Starry Night that I picked up at Scrappin Ladies in Pierre. Combined it with a bunch of my stash of Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards, a great batch of vintage embellishments that I got from Jenni's online shop and a bit of Crafty Secrets Halloween!

This is the "B" side of that paper..used a little Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz alteration Branch Tree and of course, a few more rosettes!

Playing along again this week with the fun challenge over at the Create Blog from Northridge Publishing. The challenge was to use a a fox on your card...and I've had this little guy in my stash for a while now. He is from October Afternoon's Campfire line. I used a new embossing folder from Sizzix...Snowflake & Flourish Set. Pretty sure Lynne has these in stock at Scrappin Ladies! That's where I got mine. Love it! I inked it a bit with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, a spritz or two of Perfect Pearls Mist from Ranger, also. Added the fox, some Artisan Elements from Pink Paislee, sticker and chipboard from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly line, and some hand stitching to complete it! Super cute..love how it turned out!

I really didn't feel like cleaning it off and I had just finished talking to my sister in law, Ricky, on the phone. She was telling me about a great event she went to a couple of weeks back..and one of their challenges was to create with what they had in front of them and only 15 minutes to finish!

Okay, I knew I couldn't do it in 15 but 30 minutes..I could do.

So with only what I had on my desk and 30 minutes..this is what I came up!

Only had a few minutes to create today..so much laundry and cleaning after our quick trip back to Rapid over the weekend!

Just a quick paper bag card with Echo Park's Happy Halloween Collection, a Glimmer Screen sprayed with Jack O'Lantern Glimmer Mist and the smaller Tim Holtz Rosette Die. His rosette die makes super cute pumpkins, don't you think???

A recycled Halloween Mini

Just a quick little project to share...a mini album made with recycled toilet paper tubes..so cute and easy!

I used up some of my Halloween stash (remember I'm depleting it so I can buy more)which consisted of Imaginisce papers, stickers and brads, K&CO chipboard, and some We R and Doodlebug stickers, plus just a ton of ribbon!

On the inside of each page is enough room for a small picture and I made a tag for every tube to stash pictures on too!

I used 5 tubes in all, seemed about right with the binding rings. It was a quick and easy little project and I love the results.

You could make them for birthdays and just about any holiday. I bet gift cards would fit in the tubes!

I think I will make a vintage Halloween one next!

Sam's Adventure

This is Sam's froggie friend..at least that's what she thinks.

This is the two of them having a hopping good time!

Now, they both seem to be taking a little break from the action...

Next hop, he flips over and appears to have kicked the bucket...Sam is upset, Maxenzi is upset, I am upset and Steve assures me there are plenty of more frogs on our property and the world. Sam is whimpering and looking at us like...I am so sorry! 5 minutes go by..we watch him and decide on funeral arrangements...

Steve starts to pick him up and Froggie jumps back up, flips over and he appears as though he is just a little faker. Seriously he laid there for 5 minutes, couldn't see a heart beat...nothing. All in a day's adventure for Sam!

Hooray for Angie and I...we have officially decided that today, September 1, kicks off Halloween Paper Crafting Season! We both adore Halloween paper crafting and decorating. Truly my favorite Holiday to paper craft! Love it, adore it and get carried away with it!

I have tons and tons of Halloween supplies...I must use them, so that I can buy more. I miss the store soooo much (because I miss all of you) but also for all the fun Halloween, cute, great stuff that I must have.
I used last year's adorable Cosmo Cricket Matilda line for today's cards. They didn't do a Halloween line this year and that is sad, sad, sad!

Basic Grey Out of Print Layout and Cards

Keeping myself busy and entertained with layouts and cards. Love my new room, the lighting and the quiet to create.

Sharing some Basic Grey Out of Print creations. Love this line, it's been a while since I have really fallen in love with a Basic Grey line, but this one is super fun, soft with a bit of whimsy.

I had another wonderful photo from Rosie with her girls and grandaughter. Precious!

I got a chance to play with Spellbinders "Donna Salazar" Rose creations dies! Fantastic and so fun!

A bit closer so you can check out the great flowers and the super cute baby!

Yep, and I followed through with creating a couple of cards with my leftovers! Super easy! Love this butterfly from Spellbinders "Donna Salazar" Fanciful Flight.

Next, just super simple, used a Spellbinder scallop circle die, a Martha Stewart border punch and some leftover button trim.

MME layout and cards

While digging through pictures this weekend, I came upon this one of the kids taken just a couple days before Christmas this past year..while we were getting ready to go sledding!

I didn't feel like using Christmas paper, just not really my thing..but wanted have some fun with some My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose...I have tons of it from my winnings a few months back.

I used Cosmo Cricket Core'dinations for the background,just lightly sanded and MME's Stella and Rose "Hazel" for everything else.

Love the colors, love the freshness of it. The dies are fabulous Quikutz dies that I got last year...I adore these. They cut beautifully and are just gorgeous!

I have decided to try and make a couple of cards each time I finish a layout. I never have enough cards or any on hand when I need one. This way, everything is perfectly coordinated and I have scraps and embellishments already out and ready to use. It might just work and get my card supply built up!

Sharing a layout made with Fancy Pants Baby Mine Collection and featuring Rosie's grand daughter...Brooklyn. She is the cutest and I have some more great pictures of her to scrap.

Love, love, love this line...just the sweetest papers and I am crazy about the Fancy Pants filter papers. So fun! I misted the layout and the filter papers with Caribbean Blue Glimmer Mist first. Just added the perfect touch. Punched and distressed a strip of brown, added my chipboard banner from the same line...few more finishing touches and done!

Another Resident?

Not so sure what I think about this guy. Took the garbage out tonight, stepped on something, put the garbage in the can and thought "wow! that felt weird...do I even want to look?"

Sure enough, shouldn't have looked..I let out a little whimper and took off to grab my camera and have Max come take a look at my new find. She was not impressed...and even less impressed when he tried to come in the garage. Lots of screams and whimpers on her part. By now he and I have made friends (sort of) and Maxenzi's screams and whimpers just make me giggle and happy.

"Mom, what's next? An alligator?"
She cracks me up!
Country living up north is very interesting..not sure I'm impressed yet!

Franklin and Bash are still around daily along with another little toad, that has joined the crew..her name is Freida.

As for my salamander friend...not sure if I will give him a name and if I really want to see him again.

A few minutes to create

I actually had a few minutes to create yesterday...just time enough to make a quick thank you card.

I almost have my scrap room unpacked...weeks from being perfectly organized, but at least I can create a bit.

I used Fancy Pants Baby Mine line, the blue flowers and stripe are Adore and the stripe circle is one of the fun new filter papers...kind of a tissue type paper...very fun! Buttons and banner chipboard are from the same line. Bo Bunny dot flowers using the Tim Holtz die.

Two new residents

Okay, I guess we are the new residents here and maybe these guys have been here longer. Every morning when I take the dogs out, these two little creatures are in the flower bed!

This one I have named Franklin and he is bad news for the dogs, if the were to get hold of him they would be instantly sick from his toxins. They seem to know this and just make him hop around until he finally escapes them. Interesting little guy, this morning at 4 a.m, it was around 50 degrees and he was just sitting on the patio...wouldn't move. The dogs tried to get him to jump and I tapped him with my toe...just sat there...cold blooded little guy, I guess.

And this is Bash, the super frog. Super cute and every time he jumps, Sam springs along side him. Hilarious! Wish I could get a picture of it...but happens super fast and I can never tell when he is going to spring in to action. Sometimes he just prefers to play dead, putting his little front legs over his eyes. Figures if he can't see the dogs, they can't see him???

Tons and tons of landscaping. So impressed with the property, I thought we were moving out to the prairie....but we have blue spruce trees, cottonwoods, elms, lilacs, snow ball bushes...so much pretty stuff. Love the property!

Yep, I survived the wedding. It was beautiful and splendid! Two full days of prep at the lodge, but we pulled it off without a hitch!

Jay and Kelly are off to Hawaii and Angie n I are recovering...lol!

But I am seriously blessed to have this wonderful girl, Kelly, in my life. It was a privilege and honor to be so involved in this wedding. Wishing them lots of love and a happily ever after!

If all goes well, we will be moving next weekend to Aberdeen. I have mixed feelings about leaving my home and everything behind. I miss my store and all of you already. Yet, I am excited to start this new chapter of our lives and once again be a family!

Today is coming to an end and I still am in shock and a little bit of denial that this is all coming to end here at the Playground.

I love this place and all of you so very much!

My life has been forever changed and blessed by this store and you!

It is where I create, where I am inspired and where I have met and become friends with so many incredible, talented women. I have the most incredible customers and you have become my dearest friends. You have been amazing and I have learned so much from all of you.

I love the comfortable space in the classroom where we have created, laughed and cried. We have all gone through so much and learned from one another.

My Tuesday night crowds are my very dearest and closest friends...I adore everyone of you so very much and my Saturday classes are full of women who inspire and encourage me.

Saturday we celebrate the union of Kelly and Jay. I am struck by how close and how much I love this girl who walked in to my store almost 4 years ago. She was quiet, shy and it took me forever to get her to talk with me.

Now on Saturday, Angie, Cara and I will help her celebrate her marriage to Jay and the union of their families. We have all been there though every step of this incredible journey and I am grateful for every bit which would not have been possible without this store.

I have been truly blessed to have the very best of friends in all of you. You would not believe how many of your phone numbers are in my phone. Everyone of you has become so important to me and so important to the Playground.

I hope that it remains comfortable, inspiring and rewarding for all of you. It is not goodbye....I will always be right here on this very blog and you with always be right here in my heart.

I ordered the brand new Country Drive Collection from Echo Park! It will arrive this week and I plan to create 8 layouts for Tuesday night, June 21's class! Since it was just released and it's not in my hands yet...I thought I would give you a heads up to sign for class. Echo Park Collection Kit Classes are always a huge hit and fill up fast. You'll just have to trust me on the 8 great layouts!

Recently we have done Splash and Summertime Echo Kits...fun, bright and easy to create with!

MME Challenge 23

By the skin of my teeth, I am getting MME's latest challenge done....tons of difficulty uploading photos. I think all the rain has something to do with it!

Love the sketch!

Here's my take. Kind of a layout within a layout. Doubled the elements to make it work for what I was thinking.

Needed a bit of black, so I cut the acrylic top sheet from the stamp set of doilies and got these two fantastic embellishments. Worked perfectly.

Yep, it's that time of year again...time for alcohol inked Easter eggs. Always a favorite! Easy, fun and beautiful stunning results.

We will be making four alcohol inked eggs and the great little kraft basket that Lynne from Scrappin' Ladies shared with us at the Chamberlain Retreat. Lots of possibilities with this basket, perfect for lots of holidays and more. I chose to keep it super simple with the kraft card stock and black n white butterflies filled with shredded vintage sheet music so that the eggs got all the glory. Love it!
